The Financial Services Regulatory body, Malta Financial Services Authority is well established and highly respected. On 1 May 2004 the Central Bank of Malta joined the European System of Central Banks (ESCB) and on 1 January 2008 it became part of the Eurosystem. The main objective of the Eurosystem and the Central Bank of Malta is to maintain price stability. In order to meet this objective, the Central Bank of Malta participates in the preparation and decision-making process of the Eurosystem’s monetary policy.

Economic Forecast - The European Commission publishes macro economic forecasts 3 times a year - Following exceptional growth rates in 2014 and 2015, and strong growth in 2016, real GDP growth is forecast to remain robust in 2017 & 2018 and Malta's budget balance is in surplus. Double Taxation treaties - Malta boasts such treaties with some 70 different countries. These prevent a resident from one territory being taxed twice on income/gains made in another territory.
